Kema:

I couldn’t lie, I knew that Star worked at Foot Locker at the mall. I was there doing some shopping anyway, so I felt that was the perfect time to fuck with her. I wanted to get some information from her about Ryan, but she told me she hadn’t talked to him either and my emotions got the best of me. That was the one thing about being pregnant, my hormones were out of control.

After leaving Foot Locker, I didn’t even continue on with my shopping. I dropped Taylor off at her grandmother’s house and drove home. I didn’t even bother getting our bags out the car. I just got out and went in house. I ended up going into my bedroom and closing the door behind me, and you know what I did? I cried. I cried like I had been crying for weeks straight. I cried uncontrollably, called Scorpio’s phone, and when he didn’t answer I cried some more. He didn’t give a fuck about me and now I was seeing clearly that no matter what I did, it would always be the same result. I cried so much that I ended up falling asleep in the same clothes I had on.

I woke up a few hours later and felt something wet in my bed. I sat up and began panicking. I was in labor and I was all alone. I got up and called Scorpio’s phone over and over again with no answer. I finally threw my phone down on the bed and went and changed my clothes. I then grabbed my already packed hospital bag, phone, keys, and charger and headed out the door.

I took the twenty-minute drive over to Emory and didn’t even bother to park. I hopped out of the car with my things in my hand and walked inside.

“Ma’am, my name is Kema Watkins and I am in labor,” I told the nurse at the front desk.

“Okay, Mrs. Watkins, how far apart are your contractions?”

“Umm, maybe seven to ten minutes.”

“Okay, sit down so we can get you back to labor and delivery.” She stood behind the wheelchair and waited on me to sit down. I sat down and we headed to where I would be delivering.

When we got there, another nurse came in and ran some tests on me after getting me changed and comfortable in the bed. I grabbed my phone and sent Scorpio another text.

ME: I’m in labor. I know you probably don’t care, but I thought I should let you know I’m at Emory room 521

I knew he probably wouldn’t text back, but I hoped that he would at least show up because I didn’t want to go through this alone. I had no real friends or family that I could call. My mother and father were all the way in Miami, and even if I called them now they wouldn’t get here until tomorrow sometime. I picked up my phone and called the one person I didn’t want to call, but I knew would come.
